Surveying has evolved from establishing BENCHMARKS for future surveys, to the present use of Total Stations, GPS etc. These benchmarks continue to hold their ground even today and finding one is the delight to the surveyor. However it is the time to maintain these establishments and also create newer benchmarks for the surveying profession, to not only ensure the future prospects of the surveyors but also bring back the pride in one of the oldest profession of the word.
Sokkia has an economical solution for fixing the control points with 5mm accuracy in Horizontal. This is the most innovative kind of the GPS which can be used interchangeably as Base and Rover for the DGPS operation. This is the smallest in design and has an integrated antenna, fuel gauge and GPS receiver along with batteries within the same small unit. The antenna performance has been improved by the Pin-Wheel technology to reduce the undesirable effects of multi-path signals. It can work with a single battery as well as two batteries and these batteries are hot swappable batteries which can be used without interrupting the operation of the receiver.
Sokkia Stratus DGPS comes with a controller for configuring the receivers as base and rover and communicates through Infrared rays. Stratus receiver can be used both on tripod and range poles. It has an in-built memory of 16 MB to store the collected data.
Once the field work is over, receiver data can be downloaded with the help of the Sokkia Spectrum post processing software to get the desired accuracy.
